Aylesbury Cat Rescue is what Americans would call a "no-Kill" organisation  we will not put a cat to sleep  except where it is in extreme pain due to terminal injury or is so ill it has no quality of life.

All cats passing through Aylesbury Cat Rescue are spayed or neutered. If they are too young, in the case of kittens, a written agreement is undertaken at the time of homing to have the cat spayed or neutered at six months.

By doing this will provide the following benefits :-

  • A feral colony can be successfully managed - it is our usual practice to return a number of cats to the site they had been removed from to act as "mousers". By doing this the cat numbers on site can be controlled and the site does not get overrun by vermin because all the cats have been removed, The site usually undertakes to feed the cats at least once a day.

  • It stops domestic female cats from constantly having unwanted kittens.

  • It reduces the tendency of male cats to spray inside the house.

  • It reduces the cats tendency to roam and fight.

  • Neutered or Spayed cats tend to be more home loving and affectionate.

  • It will increase the cats life span by an average of 3 years.

It is not our intention to neuter cats to the point of extinction, while there are wild cats and irresponsible owners there will always be unwanted cats in this world, our intention is to find them a comfortable living in the case of ferals and a kind loving home for the domestics.

A good quality of life is what we strive to attain.
